 1.  Introducing “The Regent Republican.”

Rather than send out an e-mail every other day, the Regent Republicans will begin issuing monthly newsletters.  This newsletter is compiled, edited, and issued without costs by the Regent Republican Club.  As long as you are on the list of the Regent Republicans, you will get it about once a month.  This should cut down on the number of e-mails you get, at least from us.

2.  Regent Republican Elections.

On the afternoon of Monday, 16 April 2007, the Regent Republicans held elections for the 2007-2008 term.  The Regent Republicans wish to thank everyone who took part in the election.  The election results are as follows: Stephen Raper was elected President, Matthew Clark was elected Vice-President, and Paul Boller was elected Treasurer.

On behalf of all the candidates, I wish to thank the members of the Regent Republicans for this opportunity to serve.  Among our collective goals for the following year is that of establishing ourselves as the premier Republican grassroots organization in the Hampton Roads area; providing grassroots support for Republican candidates; as well as speaking out and building support for conservative issues on the local, state, and national levels.

Among more specific goals are those of recruiting new members of the Regent Republicans; encouraging conservative networking through social activities, such as movie nights, live debates, and study-break socials; redesigning the Regent Republican website to be interactive; and offering grassroots training programs.

The Regent Republicans, through recruiting, training, and mobilizing the leaders of tomorrow, represents an opportunity for Christians to do extraordinary things.  In keeping with the mission of Regent University, Christian Leadership to Change the World, the Regent Republicans will work to improve the world in which we live.

There are a great number of Christians who are very interested in the preservation of certain values that have served as the moral foundation of our country.  The Regent Republicans believe that the American people are very much pro-family, pro-life, pro-constitution, and pro-American sovereignty, and who will, if given Christian candidates to support, reject the intolerant, anti-Christian, and hate-filled views that the current leadership of the Democratic Party has been promoting.

As our Creator breathed life into each and everyone one of us, it is our hope that we will honor Him through political activism and service to our nation.  We invite you to join us in this endeavor by becoming active in the Regent Republicans.

                                                                  In the Master’s Service,
                                                                  Stephen Raper
                                                                  President of the Regent Republicans

3.  Come and Watch the GOP Presidential Debates at Regent University.

On the afternoon of Thursday, the Third of May 2007, the Regent Republicans will be gathering to watch the GOP Debates.  We will be gathering in the “Student Lounge” of the Student Center at 8:00 pm.  Chuck Slemp, President-elect of COGS will be acting as the Master-of-Ceremonies, while Erin Slemp, the Admissions Manager of Robertson School of Government, will be our honored guest.

Every student at Regent University, the faculty, staff, your family and friends are all invited.  Remember, no food in the Student Lounge.

4.  Delegate Welch wants you!

Delegate Welch, representing the 21st District of Virginia Beach, is looking for volunteers this summer.  His office is currently looking for about 10-15 volunteers to work “The Rack’em and Crack’em.”  This is a fundraising event which will take place on the 9th of June, here in Virginia Beach.

Volunteers are needed to help set up the event, work the registration table, and help is also needed to deliver the food to guests.  Priority will be given to those volunteers who can work the whole day.

All volunteers will be well compensated with great home cooked food and all volunteers will have a “tuxedo” shirt purchased by the campaign on their behalf.  Volunteers pay nothing for the shirt, nor to get in.

It is a great opportunity to meet some of Virginia Beach’s finest citizens.

If you are interested, please send us your name, a valid e-mail, a valid phone number, and the best time to contact you.

Please send all replies for “The Rack’em and Crack’em” to steprap@regent.edu

5.  Needed: Summer Contact Information.

Dear Regent Republicans,

I hope the year is winding down successfully for everyone.  And the executive leadership extends their hope and prayer to everyone with exams and papers still due.  But I need your help to compile the summer contact list for the College Republicans.

There will be several festivals and volunteers will be in high demand.  The College Republicans are also looking for interns as they plan on opening several offices in other parts of Virginia.

The summer contact list will help keep everyone in the loop and will give everyone several opportunities to help build your resumes. If you want to help out, or if you just want to be kept in the loop, this is what I need from you: your name, a valid email or phone number for the summer, and where you will be for the summer.  If you would like to help out this summer, please let me know.

Take Care and have a great summer,

-Stephen Raper
