4.  American’s for Limited Government

Dear College Republicans,

Americans for Limited Government is an issue advocacy organization based out of Fairfax. ALG

prides itself on using the ballot initiative process to promote and pass serious reform and defend

the constitution.

Last year, ALG was successful in passing eminent domain reform in nine out of twelve states

with ballot initiatives to limit government takings. Additionally, in several states, including Virginia,

ALG has worked with legislators to pass eminent domain reform. ALG worked along side

State Senator Ken Cuccinelli (R-Western Fairfax) to pass meaningful eminent domain reform

legislation for Virginia families.

Additionally, Americans for Limited Government has pushed ballot initiatives in several other

issue areas. School choice is a necessity for children from all economic backgrounds in America.

South Carolinians for Responsible Government has worked hand in hand with Americans for

Limited Government to push a universal school choice program which would include a one thousand dollar tax credit for children in failing school districts to attend a private school of their

choice. Free market principals teach us that competition is a good thing in all areas of life and

education is no exception. This universal tax credit is expected to pass both chambers of the

South Carolina State Legislature by early 2008.

Americans for Limited Government has also worked to control government funded lobbying.

Public sector unions’ deliberately exploit their members by requiring membership, but they are

represented by individuals chosen in public elections. This gives no autonomy or protection to

the members of these bureaucratic mechanisms. In turn, these representatives are hand picked by the socialist left, who then use the money of public employees to endorse candidates their members do not support. Effectively, they are using your tax moneys to support candidates who do not represent your beliefs.

College republicans have the potential to be an effective force, not only Virginia, but in the whole

United States as well. If you would like more information on what ALG hopes to accomplish,

please do not hesitate to contact us at (703) 383-0880.

Best wishes,

Raymond Wotring

Vice President of Coalitions
